Default Guard/Pikeman Class

If you watch medieval war movies or read books, there are always pikeman at the front, they are usually clad in tougher armor, HUGE shields and of course, pikes. Anything that russhes in would have to go through them first.

The Class I am suggesting would uses Pikes (naturally) and sheilds. Though what these shields would do, would be a bit difefrent.
The pikes would be pretty much similar to spears, it would be the head that wold have the customizable part, maybe a handle as well.
This class would have armor that is far superior to warriors (i know, its a bit hasty). But his attack speed would be severly decreased and so would his damage. There would be another option, the character, whgen moving and not attacking, would place the sheild on his back, so he could actually move when not in battle. (this last idea has its purpose)



His/her attributes would be:

Pike Mastery: Same as every other weapon mastery, critical hits....etc

Shield Mastery: Ha! a bit of a new one this is. It would increase the armor duration of the shields, now the shields this class would be using, would be as big as the character them selves, pretty much a wall, so their uses= of this "wall" would be essential.

(Primary) Movement: This ones complicated to explain to people who dont "invision" this class. When the Pikeman is in battle, he would be like a tank, huge shield infront of him, moving like a turtle, but a impossible to beat turtle (the word impossible is figurative, this wouldnt be a unfair class). But say the battle shifts, and the attack is no longer at front, but the flank, the Pikeman cant stay at that slow speed, he is essential, his slow pace does not help, so, he would have 2 choices (this is where different people would use different stradegies). First: they can keep their sheild infront of them, and use such skills to sort of ram through, like a battering ram, or at least go a little bit faster (remember, when their shield would be up, they would be moving at a -50%-80% movement rate), or they could put the shield on their back, cause lets face it, you cant go through all of tyra or cantha at that speed, and move normally, which they would have extremly useful running skills. They would also have skills, to strategically switch between the two positions, the "Guard postition" and the "free movement" position. O.k thats enough there, ill move to what it would actually say in the text. "For every point in the movement attribute, increase your speed in "Guard" position by 3% and 1% in every other time. Skills related to this attribute gain effectiveness"

Courage: Um no duh, if their at the front of the line, they are first up in battle. This is similar to the paragons skills, or a warriors tactic's. It would also have a big similarity to a rangers "Preperations"



Armor: My idea, would change armor a bit. I have always believed that it is highly unlikly that a warrior with all that buly armor would be able to run as fast as a elementalist with nothin but see through cloth. So, the pikemans armor, would have an extremely high amount of armor (Max may even be 105 depending on how their role would be used, it can always change). But their Movement would be decreased severly, but since, it would be fair if they were the only class that had this, the effect would only come into effect when they are attacking, or in the Guard Position. So, the higher the armor value, the more it would decrease your movement by ALOT, it just makes sense. Their armor would also look extremely colorfull, when such warriors stand infront of an army, they are representing their colors, so whatever insigneas, you would buy, would be extremely visible. Shields would also have a slight effect on movement, face it, with a huge shield in your face, you aint goin nowhere to fast, so an extremely good shield would decrease armor by (example.....10%) while a crappy one, might only be 2% and a starting one would be 1% or even nothing. Extremly expenssive and rare pieces of armor and sheilds would have a high armor and a slightly decrease movement penalty (because they are Gold/Green/Expensive).

Here are some example of skills

Pike Mastery:

Carefull Strike. 5 energy, instant cast, 4 second recast
You make a carefull strike at opponent that has half the range and only does half the damage, but you have +40% armor when using this skill.

Charge Crusher. 15 Energy, instant Cast, Instant recast
You can only use this skill if you are in the "Guard" Position. If target enemy was moving faster than normal, you do an extra 4...15 (Max 60) Damage for every Shout, chant, stance, or enchantment on them. Tareget is then Crippled for the next 10 seconds You gain +40% armor when using this skill. You may not attack or move for the next 10....2 seconds after using this skill.

Desperate Lunge. 10 Energy, Instant Cast, 8 Second Recast
You can not use this skill if you are in the "Guard" Position. You do a "desperate lunge" at target foe and do an additional 10....25 Damage and cause Bleeding, Crippling, and Deep wound. You have a -50% armor when using this skill and 3..1 seconds after using this skill. You may not Change to "Guard" Position for the next 3 seconds.

Movement:

Battle Ram. 25 Energy, Instant cost, 60 second recast
You can only use this skill if you are in the "Guard" Position. For the next 5...12 seconds you move 100% Faster, and gain 10%....25% more armor. You may not attack or change Battle Position while using this skill. Any Foes using a skill, attacking or moving, that you make contact with are instantly knocked down. When Battle Ram ends, you suffer from exhausten and may not attack for the next 5 seconds.

Strategic Placement. 10 Energy, Instant Cast, 60 Second Recast
If you are in "Guard" position, you are changed to "Free movement" position. For the next 5....15 Seconds you move 50% faster. As soon as you stop moving or start attacking, you are instantly put into "Guard" position with an additional 10%..25% Armor increase and lose the Speed increase. If this happens before 30 seconds, this skill ends but is instantly recharged.

Lightweight Signet. 0 Energy Cost, 3 Second Cast, 90 Second Recast
For the Next 5....20 Seconds, you no longer suffer a speed decrease from your sheild, armor, or any hexes and enchantments.

Sheild Mastery:

Invincible Wall. 15 Energy, 2 Second Cast, 20 Second Recast
For the next 3...10 Seconds, you block all physical attacks. If this Skill is interupted or cancelled, you are dealt 50...10 damage.

Sheild of Sapping. 10 Energy, 2 Second Cast, 30 Second Recast
For the Next 5....8 Seconds, every time you would recieve Physical damage, you gain 50%.....80% or it as health instead. Everytime you are attacked this skills duration increases an additional 2...5 seconds. If you are hit with a damage dealing spell, this skill ends, you are knocked down and suffer from daze for 10 seconds.

Shield Signet. 0 Energy, Instant Cast, 15 Second recast.
You gain an additional 10%..25% armor when you are in "Guard" Position for the next 5 Seconds)

Courage:

"You are My opponent!!". 5 Energy, 5 Second Cast, Instant Recast
Shout. For the next 10....30 Seconds Target cannot use any skills, or attack to anything other than you. When enemies targeted by this shout deal damage to you, they do an additional %50....%5. This shout is easily interupted. Your attac rate is decrease by 25% for each enemy affected by this Shout.



The Role of the Pikeman would be to physically protect the other team members. This is a role similar to a Warrior. But unlike a warrior, skills such as "You are my opponent" would prevent the enemies from avoiding you. This calss would be a pro at, running, snaring and defense. It would be the king of stallers, but still have some downfalls, likebeing easily interupted and dealing only sub-par damage.

This class would also have a similar rune to the warrior absorption rune.
